Asda, McDonalds and Subway to create over 13,000 jobs between them.

Chatsworth says

“The timing of the announcement could not be better.  A focus on internal communications and training to capitalise on their investment is now required.”

Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)

The CFTC launched an inspection of the top futures firms after the collapse of MF Global exposed a $1.2bn shortfall in money kept on deposit with the firm by clients such as ranchers, hedge funds and floor traders at exchanges.

Chatsworth says

“Despite the fact that nearly three months after MF Global’s collapse, a probe led by the CFTC and Federal Bureau of Investigation has yet to find the missing money, this is a rare piece of positive news for the reputation of the financial services industry.“Both the CFTC and the firms it inspects should continue to be transparent about their operations, helping to shed the perception of secrecy and underhand goings on the general public now associate with the industry.”

Apple

Record sales of iPhones, iPads and Macs – Apple has cemented its reputation the world’s most valuable company once again.

Chatsworth says

“Apple’s ongoing solid reputation is testament to Steve Job’s legacy and Tim Cook’s ongoing leadership. Apple continues to gain share of its core markets and keep its rivals at bay.“Now with Android and Samsung’s market share creeping higher, Apple must raise the bar. New products must be solid and software user-ready. As the giant, Apple has it all to lose.”

Stephen Hester

Public outcry over annual bonus, with all major political parties calling for his bonus to be blocked.

Chatsworth says

“In the current climate, the only sensible option is to show discretion and waive or dramatically curtail this bonus while RBS continues to underperform to avoid becoming the pin up boy for excessive salaries.”
reputation

Harry Redknapp

While Harry’s reputation on the pitch is at an all time high, it is in court where he’s had to defend himself this week.

Chatsworth says

“Harry has the perfect hang-dog demeanour. Continue to look sombre and penitent Harry, whichever way the court case goes. Perfect for those entering / exiting court photos.”

David Cameron

The country back in recession; defeats in the House of Lords and a poor performance at PMQs, it has not been a good week for the PM.

Chatsworth says

“Martin Sorrell was right on the money this week. Without a demonstrable growth plan, the PM appears to be floundering. There is only so long Cameron can play the blame game, pointing to Labour’s legacy and poor leadership in the Eurozone for the UK’s woes. It is critical to devise and articulate a plan for growth and communicate it effectively to regain the initiative and voter confidence.”Being snubbed by Mick Jagger didn’t help either.”
